Ads About Greenbacks Earn International Recognition

MasterCard Campaign from Roberts Wins Graphis Gold Award

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Images of U.S. currency with a startled Benjamin Franklin and speedy Alexander Hamilton caught the eyes of readers and the admiration of judges as a MasterCard print ad campaign created by Roberts Communications won two coveted Gold Awards in the 2009 Graphis Advertising Annual competition.

Each year, Graphis, the International Journal of Visual Communication, reviews thousands of submissions and selects platinum- and gold-level winners. Graphis is a global publication dedicated to publishing the best work from around the world in advertising, graphic design, illustration, and photography. With only 2 percent of all global entries earning any recognition, the gold award is considered a prestigious industry honor.

The campaign includes two advertisements created by Roberts that are designed to raise awareness of MasterCard’s Remote Presentment and Payment Service (RPPS) and the advantages of electronic bill payment for its customers.  The ads spell out how electronic payments made using the RPPS network can provide fast electronic transactions and prevent dropped payments. The campaign leverages familiar U.S. currency whose portraits have been humorously altered to make a point.
